Broadcast/Electronics Technician (Toronto)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Sim Video International is looking for a Broadcast/Electronics Technician to test, maintain and repair rental equipment to conform to the Company’s quality procedures and standards and provide leadership in the advancement of HD technologies, in our Toronto headquarters.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capable of the following duties: clean, evaluate, troubleshoot and repair, make parts replacements, setup, align and test all models of cameras, monitors, VTR’s, lenses, camera systems including low power on camera video/audio transmitters and receivers, intercom systems, cine/film accessories and related video production rental equipment.
  • Fabricate and maintain all required video/audio/power/control cables.
  • Assist in keeping all production rental gear clean and in good working order.
  • Follow all documented checklists/standards/training documents for various tasks i.e. cleaning equipment, prepping gear, completing fault reports and maintenance records.
  • Report all damages or malfunctioning equipment to Rental coordinators and Engineering Technical Supervisor and complete the required paperwork including LMD’s, fault reports and purchase orders.
  • Effectively use company’s inventory control software to track repairs, rental requirements and service schedules.
  • Work continually towards self-development to stay current on new technology, trends, procedures and practices.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by identifying the needs and wants of clients and responding to their concerns and problems in an effective, timely manner.
  • Carry a pager and participate in the Company’s on call rotation.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • College Diploma from a recognized Broadcast Electronics or Audio/Video/Film Production Course with electronics training.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and use R2
  • Work and practical experience in Audio/Video/Film Production Industry
  • Ability to use, learn and implement Electronics Principles to make repairs and adjustments to production rental equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment but may include onsite, interior/exterior situations
  • Physical lifting and effort are required
  • Possible exposure to physical risks
